Congratulations to Brady Ells for designing our fabulous new logo. We are delighted that our winner is someone with such a long association with Mayfield Bonfire Society. On hearing the news, Brady said, “I am very proud to learn that I am designer of the logo of one of the county’s most prestigious bonfire societies! Having grown up in Heathfield, my earliest memories of Sussex bonfire celebrations were at Mayfield and Mayfield Carnival in 2011 was my very first torchlit procession I walked in. So this is personally very special to me.”
The judges were impressed with the overall design of the image and with the careful attention to representing unique aspects of Mayfield Bonfire Society’s history. The logo depicts St. Dunstan grabbing the nose of the devil, the turquoise and black stripes are the society’s smugglers guernsey colours. The second quarter contains flaming crossed torches and the third quarter displays the year ‘1556’ that four Sussex Martyrs were burnt alive in Mayfield.
