The Mayfield Bonfire Society has been running for more than one hundred years. The society depends on volunteers who keep this incredible tradition alive, and to last one hundred more years – we need YOU!

There are so many varied, fun and interesting jobs to do that take place all year round – from helping with the Senior Citizens’ Christmas lunch, quiz nights, bingo or music festival to torch making, collecting for charity, helping on Carnival night and the morning after. Volunteering is a great way to meet people in the village and to be a part of what makes Mayfield so special.

As you would expect, the Boyes and Belles are a super friendly group who warmly welcome all forms of support, and love nothing more than a drink in the Rose and Crown!

Many volunteers have been helping for years, and recently some older members have needed to take a step back and a well-earned rest. So it is now time for a new generation to help organise this important village event. The Society is looking to recruit more members and volunteers, who can help in any way they can. Whether you love dressing up and walking in the procession, can help the working party drill 30,000 holes for the 5,000 torches, join the committee to organise the event, or just offer an hour or two of support on the day, any contribution will be much appreciated.

If you can help in any way, please fill in the contact form below showing which activities you would like to volunteer for, or download a membership form here if you would like to join the society and become one of the Boyes and Belles.
